Wanted On Warrants: Trio Nabbed With Drugs, Dog In Hasbrouck Heights
A suspicious vehicle call led Hasbrouck Heights police to a drug-carrying, canine-accompanied trio wanted on warrants, authorities said. Officers Christopher Connors and Sgt. Dom D’Amico found the Subaru sedan in a Boulevard parking lot shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, Lt. John Behr said. Officers Paul Albanese, Michael DeSimone and John Mullins joined them along with Wood-Ridge Officers Mark Torsiello and Devin Ochiuzzo, the lieutenant said. An employee with the Plainfield School District and a board of education trustee in Montgomery was arrested last month and charged with stealing money meant for a school program, authorities said. Between March 2021 and May 2023, Zelda Spence-Wallace, 54, pocketed $13,000 meant for the Plainfield Board of Education's 21st Century Community Learning Center Program and used it for her own personal gain, according to a criminal complaint obtained by Daily Voice. A 24-year-old man has been arrested for slashing a man and cutting off some of his fingers during an attack under the Victory Bridge in Perth Amboy, authorities said. Ziyare Palmer, of Perth Amboy, was charged with attempted murder, weapons offenses and motor vehicle theft in what Perth Amboy police described as a domestic violence assault. Students at Ramapo College helped identify the missing remains of a marine who had been dead for 73 years. In July of 1951, Leland Yager, a U.S. Marines Captain, died in a military training exercise. His remains were recovered in California and buried in Missouri. Years later, a child was doing a scavenging exploration in Arizona when they discovered an unidentified human jaw bone. One Killed, Two Wounded In Newark Triple Shooting
One person was killed and two others were injured in a triple shooting in Newark on the afternoon of Friday, April 19, authorities said. The shooting occurred at 5 p.m. on Avon Avenue, Thomas Fennelly, a spokesman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
