Wrong-Way DUI Driver Kills PA Man On Route 80: Police, Court Records
A 31-year-old Pennsylvania man was killed by a wrong-way intoxicated driver on Route 80 early Sunday, Feb. 2, authorities said. Victor Peters, 45, of Parsippany was heading east in the westbound lanes of Route 80 in a Mercedes SUV in Rockaway Township when he struck a Ford pickup truck driven by Destinn McKnight around 2:20 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan. McKnight died while Peters was seriously injured, Marchan said. New Details Released In Crash That Closed Route 4 For Hours, Injured 11 Victims
Officials have released new details in a crash on Sunday, Dec. 16 that closed Route 4 for nearly three hours and left 11 people injured in Teaneck, including one seriously. Despite initial reports of a wrong-way driver, investigators say the crash was caused by a black SUV reportedly speeding and weaving through traffic in the westbound lanes, according to Kyra Pazant, a spokesperson for the Bergen County Sheriff's Office. A Bergen County man was identified by authorities as one of the two people killed in a wrong-way, head-on crash overnight in New York. George Gonzalez, 68, of Dumont, was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-87 in a 2017 Toyota RAV4, when he drove into a 2022 Nissan Altima around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Tuxedo, New York State Police said.
