Prostitution Bust Nets Seven Arrests At Hotels In This Hudson County Town
Several prostitution-related arrests were made in one day as part of a continuous effort to combat violent crimes in one Hudson County town. "We are specifically targeting prostitution because of the additional crime it brings to our hotel," said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller citing drug-dealing, robberies and sexual assaults. An ex-con dog walker from Hudson County had more than a pound of cocaine, an assault rifle and multiple high-capacity magazines in an electronically operated secret compartment of his SUV when he was stopped near the Meadowlands, authorities said. A 30-year-old pedestrian from Passaic was struck and critically injured on Route 21, authorities confirmed. A vehicle driven by a 58-year-old motorist from Union City hit him on the northbound highway near Exit 10 around 11 a.m., city police said. The driver remained at the scene as the victim was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson. What the pedestrian was doing on the highway wasn't immediately clear. A New Jersey man has been charged in connection with a double-fatal Connecticut crash that killed his wife and another passenger last summer in Connecticut, authorities said. Juan Fernandez, 38, of Union City, surrendered to police on Wednesday, Aug. 17, and was charged with two counts of negligent homicide, among other charges in connection with the crash on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, in Middlesex County, on Route 15 in Woodbridge. Man Beat On Jersey City Street Dies, Charges Upgraded For Assailant: Prosecutor
Charges were upgraded for a Hudson County man after the man he beat unconscious died, authorities said. Robert Stevens, 40, of Union City, beat 51-year-old Anthony Passero on Bergen Avenue between Myrtle and Bostwick avenues in Jersey City around 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Passero was brought to Jersey City Medical Center, where he died of his injuries on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022 at approximately 12:40 a.m., Suarez said. More than 38 grams of heroin and fentanyl were seized in the takedown of a drug production facility in Hudson County and lower Bergen, authorities said. An investigation into Richard Stroman Jr., 38, of North Arlington, began last May when police were tipped off to a drug mill being run out of a West New York home, New Jersey State Police said. A 58-year-old stabbing suspect was hospitalized after being shot by police responding to the incident in Hudson County July Fourth, police said. Jesus Suazo hurt the victim during an argument before police were flagged down on 23rd Street and Bergenline Avenue in Union City around 7:50 p.m., Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
