Water Main Breaks Close Major Bergen County Roadways
Two water main breaks were reported in two Bergen County towns Thursday night, Dec. 26. According to the NJDOT site, the first was reported in Ridgefield Park, closing all lanes of Route 46 east of the Hackensack River Bridge. The other was reported in Leonia along Grand Avenue south of Fort Lee Road. All lanes were closed in both areas as of 10:15 p.m.

Cops ID NJ Pilot, Passenger Killed In I-684 Plane Crash
Authorities have released the identities of both the pilot who survived and the passenger who died in a small plane crash that shut down Interstate 684 at the border of Fairfield, CT and Westchester, CT counties for hours. Kalmen Goldberger, 26, of Linden, NJ, had reported engine trouble before the single-engine Tecnam P-2008 went down in the center median of I-684 near Exit 2 in Harrison Thursday, Dec. 12 around 7:15 p.m., officials said. A crash knocked down a utility pole shutting a portion of Route 4 Saturday morning, Oct. 19 in Teaneck, the NJDOT site shows. As of 8:42 a.m., the westbound lanes were closed at Belle Avenue. Injuries were reported.

Firefighters rescued one person trapped in a vehicle after a crash on Route 4 on Thursday, Sept. 26, witnesses said. A 27-year-old West Milford man was arrested for throwing rocks and smashing windows of parked cars at a Wayne diner, including a police car, and spit on arresting officers, authorities said. Evan R. Box Truck Being Towed Tips Beneath Route 80 Overpass
A box truck tipped while being towed beneath a Route 80 overpass in Elmwood Park, jamming area traffic early Friday afternoon. A driver who was killed in a chain-reaction crash on Route 3 was identified as a 46-year-old Kearny resident. A BMW X3 had become disabled and was stopped on the westbound Passaic River Bridge in Clifton when it was struck by a Subaru Impreza driven by Karen Garcia shortly before 5 a.m. last Thursday, Dec. 15. A car carrier loaded with hybrids caught fire, causing some major morning headaches on northbound Route 17. Special foam was needed to help extinguish the blaze, which apparently broke out in the brake system and spread early Wednesday, Sept. 28, Saddle River Police Chief Jason Cosgriff said. Police in Newark have released images of a truck that leaked a lengthy stream of cooking oil Tuesday, causing huge traffic headaches shortly before rush hour. The spill happened around 3:40 p.m. on Stockton, Delancy, Adams and Thomas streets and Wilson Avenue, all in the city's Ironbound section. A commercial van shattered a utility pole Tuesday afternoon in Fairview, closing a busy thoroughfare. The driver walked away unscathed after his van split the pole -- downing wires along with the transformer -- on Fairview Avenue near the Bergen Boulevard underpass around 2:30 p.m. Fairview Avenue remained indefinitelky closed in both directions while PSE&G made repairs, Police Capt. : Tanker Rollover Closes Northbound Route 17 In Hasbrouck Heights
UPDATE: Northbound Route 17 remained closed indefinitely after a tanker truck struck a sedan and rolled over Monday afternoon near the Bendix Diner on Route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights, spilling fuel across the roadway. The 53-year-old tanker driver was taken to nearby Hackensack University Medical Center with knee pain and a cut on his finger, Detective Lt. Michael Colaneri Jr. told Daily Voice.
