Paramus Boy, 14, Goes Missing For Nearly 10 Hours, Social Media Helps Find Him
The nearly 10-hour disappearance of a 14-year-old Paramus Catholic High School student with no known history of issues or problems was enough to worry not just friends and family members but local first responders, as well.
As usual, the social media machine kicked into gear -- and, sure enough, it made a difference.
The boy left school around 8:45 a.m. Monday, April 8, Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti explained.
Although the chief didn't say why, it was believed the boy had some type of disagreement with a family member.

'I Love You, Goodbye': Romanian Traveler Caught, GF Gone After Pickpocketing Bust: Montvale PD
"I love you," a woman told her fellow Romanian traveler after Montvale police arrested him for pickpocketing an elderly victim. "Goodbye."
And she was gone.
A wallet that Robert P. Nuta, a 31-year-old fugitive wanted out of Florida, swiped from the late-70-something victim outside Wegman's held $100 in cash, credit cards and a Social Security card, Montvale Police Chief Douglas McDowell said.
The victim's cellphone also was taken, the chief said.

Grandson Of Bergen County Author Mary Higgins Clark Dies In PA Crash
Jerome "Jerry" Derenzo of Saddle River, New Jersey died in a car crash in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania early on Friday, Nov. 17, authorities say. He was 31.
Derenzo, the grandson of the late best-selling novelist Mary Higgins Clark, was headed west on Sunbury Road in Barry Township when he lost control of his truck before 1 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Masked Offender From Bergenfield Caught With Meth, Burglar Tools In Pre-Dawn Stop: Dumont PD
A known offender was arrested again after a Dumont officer spotted him carrying bolt cutters while riding a bicycle down the main drag two hours before sunrise, authorities said.
And, once again, a judge released him soon after.
Andrew Lugo, 35, of Bergenfield, has been arrested in several towns – among them, Saddle River, Hackensack, Englewood, Teaneck and Little Ferry – the past few years, records show.
Charges have included burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and drug possession.
A year ago, Bergenfield police arrested him for a host of credit card thefts during burglaries.

Fleeing Driver Nabbed After Crashing Off Route 17: Saddle River PD
A driver from Rockland County who sped off from a Route 17 stop and crashed moments later was captured on foot miles away, Saddle River police said.
John N. Papain, 37, of Suffern, was pulled over on the northbound highway shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday, July 17, Saddle River Police Chief Jason Cosgriff said.
Papain was speaking with the officers on the side of the road when he suddenly hit the gas of his 2009 Ford Escape and sped off, the chief said.
Rather than pursue him, the officers watched as Papain turned onto Plesant Avenue, then followed him, Cosgriff said.

Overnight Deck Fire Ravages Wyckoff Home
Fire ravaged a Wyckoff home before dawn Friday.
Firefighters responding to a CO alarm found roaring flames and heavy smoke at the Lakeview Drive home near the Rambaut and Maple lakes at 3:40 a.m. June 23.
The destructive two-alarmer apparently ignited on a rear deck and extended to the 2½-story home.
It was declared under control in well under an hour, with no injuries reported.
Mutual aid responders reportedly included firefighters from Allendale, Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes, Hawthorne, Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, Midland Park, North Haledon, Oakland, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Saddle River and Waldwick.
