40 Firefighters Control 2-Alarm Blaze That Injured 1, Damaged Fair Lawn Home: Police A two-alarm fire left a Fair Lawn family's home damaged and sent one firefighter to the hospital Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23, authorities said. Firefighters were called to the home on the 35 block of Lindwood Road at approximately 2:40 p.m., where smoke and flames were found in the back of the home, local police said. A second alarm was transmitted, bringing a mutual aid response to the borough. Mudd died after a fearless battle with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 29, just six days after his wedding. He was 33. Born in Bloomingdale, Matthew grew up in Kinnelon, where he graduated from Kinnelon High School, his obituary says. Matthew went on to attend Hudson County Community College and William Paterson University and had worked as a Territory Sales Manager for Makita USA, according to his memorial. Fair Lawn Firefighters Douse Blaze At Auto Repair Shop Fire damaged a Fair Lawn auto repair shop on Saturday. Firefighters “quickly stretched hose into the building and got the fire knocked down” after it broke out at Prestige Autowerks on Fair Lawn Avenue at Third Street shortly after 6 p.m., Fire Chief Thomas Carney said. Carney declared the two-alarm blaze under control within a half-hour. No one was injured, he said. Carney thanked Fair Lawn police, Rescue Squad and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as well as fellow fire companies that provided mutual aid from Elmwood Park, Glen Rock, Paramus and Saddle Brook. Fire Damages Fair Lawn Group Home Fire ravaged the facade and caused smoke damage to a Fair Lawn group home Sunday night. Two firefighters sustained ankle injuries during in 9:15 p.m. blaze, which began on the front porch of the Fern Street home and was quickly doused. No other injuries were reported. Photos: Car Slams Into Route 4 Vitamin Shoppe In Paramus PARAMUS, N.J. -- A driver injured his arm Tuesday afternoon when his car slammed into the Vitamin Shoppe on Route 4 in Paramus, knocking a hole in the wall and sending products tumbling. The four-door Hyundai veered off the westbound highway near Spring Valley Road and struck the building after a collision with another car. Neither the other driver nor store employees were injured. The injured driver refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. A building inspector was summoned to determine whether the store could be reopened before repairs were made.
