A Hackensack grade school was locked down as police pursued -- and then captured -- a knife-wielding Morris County man who they said had just assaulted and terrorized a local woman. Teaneck police captured an ex-con from Hackensack who they said robbed a man selling an Xbox at knifepoint, taking the gaming system, a cellphone, $580 in cash and assorted electronic from the victim’s car. Aaron McMorris, a 29-year-old convicted sex offender with a decade-long rap sheet, was only just released from state prison last September after serving more than 2½ years for a drug-related conviction, records show. : Teen In Custody After Chit Chat Diner Deliveryman Robbed At Gunpoint
A 16-year-old was taken into custody in connection with the gunpoint robbery of a Hackensack diner deliveryman, authorities said. On Oct. 25 just before midnight, a Chit Chat Diner deliveryman was robbed at gunpoint just after getting back into his car on Park Street, Hackensack Police Capt. Frank Aquila said. Days later, the suspect was in custody, according to police. "The driver was shaken up," said Aquila, "but was not physically injured." Hackensack Man Climbs Out Passenger Door After Tree Falls On Moving Car
A Hackensack driver climbed out the passenger door after a tree limb fell on his car as he was trying to park. No injuries were reported. The man was driving down Park Street when the tree fell on his sedan trapping him inside, he said. By the time firefighters, police and EMS responded, the driver had exited the vehicle and went inside, witnesses said. The road remained closed as of Thursday morning.
