A New Jersey restaurant owes more than $168,000 after failing to pay employees for overtime labor, federal officials said. NJ Dairy Queen Operator Violated Child Labor, Wage Regulations: Feds
A New Jersey Dairy Queen franchise owner is facing a blizzard of fines. The U.S. Department of Labor has determined Kostantine Menegatos, who operated four DQs in the Garden State, violated federal child labor and wage regulations, forcing him to pay $14,000 in penalties and more than $9,000 in back wages. Menegatos failed to pay one employee minimum wage and did not pay 14 workers time and a half overtime premium for working more than 40 hours in a work week, the DOL said. A staffing agency in Bergen County has been ordered to pay 289 employees $910,000 in back wages, the Department of Labor announced following a court action. Advantix Logistics in Lyndhurst failed to pay hourly employees overtime wages for working more than 40 hours a week, the Department of Labor said. Picatinny Arsenal Fire Station Closes Indefinitely Due To Overtime Concerns
One of Picatinny Arsenal’s fire stations has been shut down indefinitely as a result of concerns regarding overtime pay, authorities confirmed. Station 2 Local F-169 was shuttered Tuesday by Picatinny Arsenal Lieutenant Col. Adam Woytowich, the company said in a Facebook post. “Response time and the safety of our military community and mutual aid partners are in jeopardy,” the post says. Workers At Elizabeth Car Wash Paid Below Minimum Wage, No OT Pay: Lawsuit
A class-action lawsuit has been filed on behalf of the workers at an Elizabeth car wash who were allegedly forced to work for significantly less than the minimum age and did not receive overtime pay despite working up to 70 hours a week or more. The state’s minimum wage was $8.60 an hour in 2018.
