Fiery Deaths Prompt Recall For Millions Of Dehumidifiers: Cpsc
After multiple deaths, 450 fires, 2,000 incidents of overheating, and $19 million in property damage – millions of dehumidifiers are being recalled, according to a release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Aug. 16, 2023.
The dehumidifiers were manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, of China, and were sold under major brand names: Danby, De’Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, GE, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima, the CPSC explained.

14-Round Magazine, Loaded Handgun Seized From Missouri Driver In Secaucus, Police Say
Police seized a loaded handgun and a 14-round high-capacity magazine for a different weapon from a Missouri driver they spotted with fake license plates, authorities in Secaucus said.
The Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit was near the Extended Stay Hotel when they saw a vehicle in the parking lot with bogus license plates just before 6 p.m. Sept. 10, Chief Dennis Miller said.
While speaking to the driver, a handgun was spotted in the driver’s side door pocket of the vehicle, within his immediate reach, Miller said.

Travelers from six states have been removed from the COVID-19 joint quarantine list of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
California, Hawaii, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, and Ohio were removed from the Travel Advisory List on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Puerto Rico was added to the list.
The quarantine applies to any person arriving from a state with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents over a seven-day rolling average or a state with a 10 percent or higher positivity rate over a seven-day rolling average.

Travelers from five states have been removed from the COVID-19 joint quarantine list of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
This marks the first week since the list was started on Thursday, June 25, when eight states were initially named, that no new states with high COVID positivity testing rates have been added. However, one new territory has been added: Guam.
The five states removed on Tuesday, Aug. 25 are Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Maryland and Montana.

Travelers from three more states, as well as Puerto Rico and Washington, DC, with high positive testing rates for COVID-19 have now been added to the joint quarantine order for out-of-state travelers to New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Parasite In McDonald's Salads Sickens 163 People In 13 States
The foodborne outbreak linked to McDonald's salads is growing.
A total of 163 people have now been sickened across 13 states after eating salads contaminated with a parasite, Cyclospora.
McDonald's has stopped selling those salads at some 3,000 restaurants, all located in Midwest states: Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, West Virginia and Missouri.
McDonald's said it stopped selling salads at impacted restaurants "until we can switch to another lettuce blend supplier."

Rochelle Park PD Stop Missouri Driver With Two Loaded Guns, Illegal Ammo
ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. – A Missouri driver had two loaded guns in her glove compartment, one with hollow-nosed bullets, when she was stopped by Rochelle Park police, authorities said.
Officer Brian Gallina stopped the 2013 Dodge Avenger with Missouri plates and heavily tinted windows Friday afternoon on West Passaic Street, Lt. Dean Pinto said.
