Garfield Garage Blaze Doused
Garfield firefighters doused a Sunday morning garage blaze. It was going pretty good when they got to the March 10 fire, but they contained it to the one-story two-car garage behind a Market Street home. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid at the scene and in coverage was provided by fellow firefighters from Saddle Brook, Clifton, Elmwood Park, Lodi, Maywood, Passaic and Rochelle Park. McDonald's Melee: Bergen County Man Arrested In Hoboken Stabbing
A Bergen County man was arrested in a Hoboken stabbing Friday, Feb. 9, police said. Officers were called to the Washington Street McDonald's for a street fight involving 10 people, which resulted in a stabbing around 6:30 p.m., Hoboken police said. An on-scene investigation found Lodi's Kasaun Patterson, 42, stabbed another man during the fight, police said. Patterson was seen near the scene and was arrested. A transient ex-con was charged with domestic violence after authorities said he pinned a Hackensack woman to the floor by her hair and threatened her with a knife before dawn Monday. Robert Raghoenathsingh, 40, formerly of Lodi but more recently of Passaic, plunged the knife into the floor next to the victim's head in her Prospect Avenue apartment around 2 a.m. Feb. 5, the woman told police. Motorist Freed By Firefighters After Crashing Into Her Hasbrouck Heights Home
A Hasbrouck Heights motorist appeared OK after her SUV plowed into the attached garage of her home and borough firefighters extricated her, responders said. The house on Raymond Street between Burton Avenue and Boulevard may have sustained some structural damage that would require attention, however, they said. A building inspector will make that call. Dumpster Fire Doused At Avalon Apartments In Wood-Ridge
A building manager kept a trash bin fire in the basement of a Wood-Ridge apartment complex from spreading and borough responders took it from there, authorities said. Wood-Ridge Lt. Jeffrey Geisler and Officers Joseph Barbiera and Michael Donato evacuated the building at the Avalon at Westmount Station apartments shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, Capt. Residents, responders and the family cats made it out OK as Maywood 's bravest doused a house fire. The blaze ignited in the rear of the 1½-story wood-frame house at the corner of Palmer and Coolidge avenues shortly before 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13. Tenafly police arrested a woman who they said ripped an Israeli flag down from the awning of a downtown store and harassed employees last month with “pro-Palestinian taunts and antagonizing hand gestures.” Denisa Gjana, 31, of Lodi was identified after investigators interviewed witnesses and reviewed area surveillance video following the Dec. 5, 2023 incident on West Railroad Avenue, Capt. North Jersey residents are feeling the impact of this week's storm with thousands still without power and schools closed or delayed. ): Gas Tanker Flips From One Side Of Route 17 To Other, Dealership Destroyed
In nothing short of a miracle, no serious injuries were reported after a gas tanker truck exploded into a huge fireball on Route 17 Monday morning. A used car dealership and many of its two dozen or so vehicles were destroyed in the five-alarm blaze after the truck and a passenger vehicle collided near the U-turn at the White Castle on the highway's southbound side in Hasbrouck Heights at 5:43 a.m. Jan. 8. Coach From Nutley Awaiting Trial In Lodi Couple's Auto Deaths Charged With Child Sex Crimes
A youth strength and conditioning coach from Nutley who'd remained free while awaiting trial in the deaths of a couple in a horrific early-morning crash outside their Lodi home exposed a child in Bergen County to sexual conduct, authorities charged.
