Busted: 22 Suspects Caused $125K In Morris County Graffiti Damage In Past Year, Police Say
Nearly two dozen people from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. have been charged with causing a combined $125,000 in damages in Morris County from graffiti and vandalism over the past year.
The long-term investigation into “graffiti-style criminal mischief” resulted in a total of 22 arrests, Hanover Police Chief Mark Roddy said Monday.

Three people are facing charges after being caught spray painting a mural and words onto traffic boxes in Newark, authorities said.
Police saw Alexa Lipke, 25, of Green Brook, writing graffiti on traffic light boxes at Broad and Franklin streets near City Hall on June 28, Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said. She was arrested on graffiti and drug-related charges.

Man, 20, Charged In Emerson Graffiti Spree, Symbol Not Anti-Semitic
A local man who'd marked two Emerson schools and other areas in town with graffiti that was mistakenly believed to be anti-Semitic was about to do it again when borough police grabbed him Wednesday night, authorities confirmed.
Brendan Rooney, 20, "was doing the same thing that he saw a [hip-hop] group he found on social media doing," Lt. Michael McDermott said. "There was no evidence at all of this being a bias crime."
Rooney was mimicking a symbol used by the Brooklyn band Pro-Era "that can be mistaken for a swastika," his friend, Ian Maltzan, told Daily Voice. "It means inner peace."
