Tip Top Poultry, Inc. is recalling nearly 62 tons of fully cooked poultry products that may be contaminated by listeria, federal authorities said Tuesday. The recall involves chicken products with the “Tip Top,” Perdue,” “Gordon,” “Sysco” and “West Creek” labels, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said. 22 Contract Hepatitis A From Food Handler At Mendham Country Club
A food handler at a Morris County country club sickened 22 people with Hepatitis A, NJ.com reports. The outbreak was contained to the members-only Mendham Golf & Tennis Club and likely happened between June 9 and 30, township officials said. The food handler was banned from work and required to provide medical clearance from a doctor before returning, the announcement said. The Newark jail where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement houses undocumented immigrants was one of two facilities in the nation cited specifically for serious health and other violations in a federal report released this week. Eight people in four states, including one in New Jersey, have been hospitalized with listeria infections linked to deli meats and cheeses the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The USDA has announced the latest recall of nearly 100,000 pounds of a popular chicken product due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. VICS Acquisition, based out of Texas, announced that it is recalling 99,975 pounds of products that may contain eggs, which was not declared on the product’s label. Whole Foods has announced a voluntary recall of prepared food containing baby spinach that may be contaminated with salmonella. Salads, sandwiches, wraps and pizza, as well as products purchased from a Whole Foods salad bar or hot bar containing baby spinach through Wednesday, Jan. 23, are among the products affected, according to the Food and Drug Administration. General Mills has issued a recall of five-pound Gold Medal bags of flour after salmonella was found in samples of the product. Bags with a “better if used by date of April 20, 2020” were part of the recall, which the FDA said was issued out of an abundance of care. Four people in Bergen County accounted for the 11 in New Jersey recently sickened by E.coli in the ongoing national outbreak. Federal officials on Thursday renewed their warning to avoid eating romaine lettuce from the central coasting region of northern and central California. More than 212 pounds of ready-to-eat meat products with vegetables shipped to New Jersey are being recalled due to possible listeria and salmonella contamination, authorities said. Buddy's Kitchen Inc. of Minnesota produced the pork and chicken meals between October 2017 and 2018, which were shipped to several states including New Jersey, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said in a release.
