Brush Fire Breaks Out In Bergen County Yard
Firefighters put out a brush fire that broke out in a Bergen County yard Monday, Nov. 4. The Allendale Volunteer FD said neighbors were helping to contain that blaze that broke out behind a home on Byron Court when they arrived. Service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains was disrupted for the second time this week on Thursday, June 20 due to both power issues and brush fires along the NJ Turnpike, officials said. Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New Haven had been suspended while NJ Transit service in and out of NY Penn Station was also suspended, due to power issues on the Amtrak line, NJ Transit said. A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner. A Friday morning brush fire was causing traffic delays on Route 287 in Morris County, authorities said. The fire broke out in the southbound lanes south of exit 40 to Route 511 in Parsippany shortly before 9:45 a.m., according to 511NJ. A portion of the Garden State Parkway was closed overnight Wednesday, backing up traffic for miles as firefighters battled a brush fire. : Mahwah Firefighters Rush From Rockland Brush Blaze To Local House Fire
Mahwah firefighters were helping their colleagues from Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Tallan douse a brush fire in a remote wooded area of Rockland on Sunday when a house fire broke out nearby in town. The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was quickly knocked down, although it did cause some damage.
