Newark Police Down Gunman After Killing Of City Man, 8-Year-Old Boy: NJ Attorney General
A mandated review is being conducted of the shooting death by two Newark police officers of an armed man moments after another city man and an 8-year-old boy were slain in a nearby apartment. Officers responding to a call on Johnson Avenue found the adult victim dead and the boy gravely wounded shortly after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said on Thursday. Drexel University's former chairman of the neurology department convicted of sexually assaulting patients died by suicide in a New York City jail, sources tell the Associated Press. Dr. Ricardo Cruciani was found unresponsive in a shower area of the Eric M. Taylor Center on Rikers Island Monday, Aug. 18, the AP reports. The 68-year-old doctor's attorney confirmed that he died but not the manner of death. Sagy Grinberg could’ve been a modern-day success story. A former shoe salesman, he went to medical school in the West Indies, got married on top of Mt. Carmel and took a prized residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark. Then things went sideways. : Suspect In Maplewood Double Killing Arrested
UPDATE, 12 p.m. Aug 4: A suspect in the killings has been arrested. Click here for more. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating after two people were found dead in Maplewood Saturday morning. Police were called to a home in the area around 6 a.m. on a report of a woman being assaulted. Arriving officers found an injured woman in the street and she as transported to Beth Israel Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 7 a.m. Police also found an unresponsive man inside a home in the 400 block of Walton.
