A 62-year-old Sussex County first responder was killed when his UTV was struck by a pickup truck in upstate New York on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 1, authorities said. At 6 p.m., William Timko, a Wantage resident and member of the fire department, was operating a UTV in Turin, traveling eastbound, when he failed to acknowledge a yield sign at the intersection of State Route 12 and Milk House Road and was struck by a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southbound on State Route 12, New York State Police said. A fundraiser has been launched to aid the family of Jay McChesney, a New Jersey father and flight nurse who died last month at 55 years old. Jay, of Hillsborough, died on Friday, Aug. 30, leaving behind his wife, Jennette and their three children, Jordan, James, and Joe. Nicknamed an "All American Hero," Jay was a founding member of the Atlantic Air 1 medevac team and was a nurse at Robert Wood Johnson after having spent 24 years serving in the Coast Guard. Cops ID Victim, Suspected Gunman In Deadly Paterson Shooting
Police have made an arrest in a Paterson shooting that left a 41-year-old man dead over Labor Day Weekend. Daquann Barnes, 37, of Paterson, is believed to have shot and killed Raheem Porter, who was found lying face down at Auburn and Ellison streets on Saturday, Aug. 31 around 2:45 a.m., Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said. Porter was taken to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A 54-mile pursuit through North Jersey in a stolen box truck ended when the vehicle ran out of gas and police found the driver with heroin Labor Day Weekend, authorities said. A 59-year-old boater was hospitalized after being struck by the propeller of a boat after being ejected from his own and sucked under water in Ocean County over Labor Day Weekend, police said.
