Found! Missing Teen Turns Up Near Home UPDATE: A massive search ended when a missing 17-year-old boy with autism from Hawthorne was found. Christopher Dougherty was last seen near his home on Prescott Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, police said. Authorities were concerned because he wasn't wearing any shoes and had on shorts Police K9s were brought in and a New Jersey State Police helicopter was in the air. He was found at North 8th Street and Mohawk Ave barely a half-dozen blocks from home, police said.

Hawthorne House Fire Doused Firefighters doused a stubborn house blaze Tuesday morning in Hawthorne. It came in as a ceiling fire on Prescott Avenue off North 9th Street, but firefighters found heavy flames on the second floor and in the attic shortly before 7:30 a.m. Two alarms on arrival quickly went to three alarms. It took about an hour to extinguish all visible fire. Firefighters continued to douse hot spots past 9 a.m. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Prospect Park and Wyckoff. No injuries were immediately reported.

Hawthorne PD: Drunk College Student Crashes Car Into Pole, Asks If She Can 'Just Drive Home' A college student from Prospect Park asked police if she could “just drive home” after crashing her car into a utility pole in Hawthorne while intoxicated, authorities said. Prescious Kirby, 21, smelled of alcohol after her 2013 Ford Fiesta severed the pole at North 8th Street and Prescott Avenue at its base just before 2 a.m. Friday, Detective Sgt. Matthew Hoogmoed said. While being interviewed by officers, Kirby “repeatedly asked if she could just drive home,” he said.
