Amtrak and NJ Transit customers were livid over service disruptions between Penn Station and Newark due to downed power lines blocking the tracks on Wednesday evening, May 22. In a statement posted to X, Amtrak said service was stopped at 5:36 p.m. with no estimation of restoration. As of 10 p.m., widespread delays were being reported by Amtrak. Man Fatally Struck By NJ Transit Train In North Jersey A man was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train Tuesday, Nov. 7. The Morris & Essex Line train struck the man just west of the Madison station around 3:30 p.m., an NJ Transit official said. None of the 60 passengers on the train were hurt. The train had left Penn Station and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 4:05 p.m. Rail service was experiencing an hour delay in both directions at 5:50 p.m., NJ Transit officials said.

Miguel Angel-Villegas, 29, of New Haven had threatened to kill his then-girlfriend if she didn't drive him from Connecticut to New Jersey, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D.
