'Lumbering' Larry Looks Like He'll Be Losing Steam, Hurricane Center Reports As Labor Day dawned, Hurricane Larry already was showing signs of slowing down, although things could get a bit dicey at the Jersey Shore, meteorologists said. With maximum sustained winds near 125 miles per hour and "little change in strength forecast the next day or so," it was expected to remain no more than a Category 3 hurricane, the National Hurricane Center reported late Sunday.
