“You can spring clean those gently used yoga mats and share the gift of giving with the clients at CPNJ,” said yoga instructor Melanie Hazim, who is coordinating the drive to benefit the non-profit organization.

“Let’s help them to have a mat for everyone who would like to learn and enjoy the joys of yoga as we know them,” said Hazim who works for CPNJ.

Both Sun Tao and Ananta Yoga Studios are collecting the gently used mats until May 11.

Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey
(CPNJ) is dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence and community participation.

Charitable causes have long been part of life for Hazim, a registered yoga teacher from Saddle Brook. She was director of public relations and blood services for four years for the American Red Cross Montclair-Glen Ridge-Nutley chapter.

Hazim recently began teaching at the Hamburg Turnpike facility as part of a day program for adults.

“It has been an amazing opportunity,” she told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “To see how receptive they are to the classes is truly heartwarming.”

Hazim hopes to collect at least 75 mats. She has exactly a month left.
