Some of the bins began to spill out of the back of a rental truck Saturday night as Patrolman Peter Goodman saw the vehicle turn onto Godwin Avenue from the Boulder Run shopping center, Police Chief Benjamin Fox said this afternoon.

The bins belong to the CVS Pharmacy in the shopping center, the chief said.

“The theft of these types of storage bins that are utilized by businesses have been escalating in the Bergen County area,” Fox said. “They are then brought to recycling centers and sold for plastic recycling.”

The rental truck contained about 300 of the bins, plastic pallets and corrugated cardboard — marked with identification from CVS, Walgreen’s and Rite-Aid, he said.

Arrested on theft and possession of stolen property charges were Jose M. Vazquez, 46, and 43-year-old Toyse Ali.

Vazquez, who was arrested for the same crimes on June 9 in Westwood and on August 2 in Bogota, was being held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. Ali was being held on $2,500 bail.
