Wyckoff police find addict who sold grandmother’s car for heroin sleeping in her shed after burglary

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A heroin addict out on bail for stealing his 88-year-old grandmother’s car from a Wyckoff church parking lot and then selling it for heroin was again arrested by borough police and charged with breaking into her house last week.

Police Chief Benjamin Fox said they found Arthur Garlick, 23, sleeping in the woman’s Grandview Avenue shed last Friday.

A screen had been removed and a rear window to the house broken, after which a bedroom door was pried open, the chief said.

Garlick, who used to live there, remained held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia and burglary tools.

Garlick had been released after stealing his grandmother’s car as she worked the June 3 Election Day polls and then selling for $200 cash and $150 worth of heroin when Hawthorne police arrested him again in July on heroin posession charges. READ MORE….
