Woman With Kids In Car Snatches Chain From 83-Year-Old Clifton Man's Neck

CLIFTON, N.J. -- An 83-year-old Clifton man sitting on a walker outside his house had a gold chain yanked from his neck by a woman who got out of a car with children sitting in back, authorities said Monday.

The Center street victim said the car pulled up around 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.

The front-seat passenger got out, walked up and snatched the chain, then got back into the car, which took off, he said.

The victim sought medical attention for an undetermined injury, the lieutenant said.

He described the robber as 23 to 27 years old and Hispanic. The driver was Hispanic, as well, and in his 30s, the man told police.

"Additionally, young children were observed in the back of the vehicle during the time of the incident," Bracken said.
