Wayne trio charged in NYC St. Patrick’s Day brawl

BEYOND BERGEN: A Wayne Valley High School graduate and two current students turned themselves in to the NYPD for a videotaped St. Patrick’s Day brawl that left one victim with a broken eye socket and another with a broken jaw, authorities said.

Even though two of the defendants are 17, city police identified them: Perry-Michael Rezzonico and Nelphy Peralta-Reyes. The third is Louis Rezzonico, currently of Jersey City, who turned 21 earlier this month.

The NYPD said it began with an argument at O’Brien’s Irish Pub, at 134 West 46th Street, between two 17-year-old boys and the Wayne trio that escalated.

The three ended up “kicking, punching and striking the victims with bottles in front of the location” before fleeing, authorities said.

Videos published in connection with the incident included one released by the NYPD showing the trio in New York Jets jerseys:

According to a report in the Daily News, city prosecutors alleged:

“Peralta-Reyes broke a bottle over one victim’s head and kicked him in the face — breaking his jaw….Perry-Michael Rezzonico also punched one of the victims, breaking an orbital bone.”

A defense lawyer said the other two started the fight after they behaved like “bullies,” got bounced from the bar and “ambushed” the Wayne trio outside.

“At the beginning they were on the bottom,” he told the DN. “[A]t the end they were on top.”
