Officers Robert Fernandez and Skylar Cauceglia were conducting safety and security patrols of the commercial district Tuesday afternoon when they saw three men "slouched down" in a BMW parked behind the Kings Motor Inn, Capt. Laurence Martin said Thursday.

Steven Morales, 25, was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant out of Paterson, and a second occupant -- identified as 20-year-old Daniel Azar of Belleville -- was arrested on a Belleville traffic warrant, Martin said.

The third person was released without charges, he said.
