WAYNE, N.J. -- A driver high on cocaine was flailing his arms when a Wayne police officer stopped his speeding pickup -- which had a cracked front windshield and no front license plate, authorities said Thursday.

Officer Adrian Sulejmani stopped the speeding the 1997 GMC Sierra pick-up after the driver made an abrupt turn into a Hamburg Turnpike chiropractic office parking lot around 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, Capt. Laurence Martin said.

The driver, 50-year-old Michael Miller of Wayne, "had white powder residue around both his nostrils and appeared to be in a highly agitated state flailing his arms around," Martin said.

Sulejmani, joined by Sgt. First Class Peter Pohludka, found a clear vial with cocaine residue on top of paperwork in the car.

They also discovered "a used prescription bottle with the label removed containing a quantity of suspected cocaine, along with four hollowed-out pens with cocaine residue," the captain said.

The car was impounded and Miller was released, under New Jersey's 2017 bail reform law, pending a court hearing on various drug charges. He also received traffic summonses, Martin said.
