Danielle Reveron was released on a court summons charging her with theft following an investigation by Detective Kevin Doheny into the April 25 theft at La Placita Bakery and Cafe on North Washington Avenue.

The parent of a CLIFFVIEW PILOT reader from Dumont said he called police to identify Reveron, who has a history of drug arrests, after seeing the images.

A week before the theft, Elmwood Park police charged Reveron and 24-year-old Daniel Salazar with having 10 bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia after they were stopped on East 55th Street following a drug buy in Paterson.

Reveron, formerly of Dumont, was also arrested in Fair Lawn in April 2013 after police said she bought heroin in the Silk City, records show.

Bakery employees were shocked by the surveillance video, which shows the thief snatching the jar when no one’s looking and quickly leaving.

Based on the usual Saturday amount, they told CLIFFVIEW PILOT the jar held an estimated $200 in tips accumulated throughout the day.

WATCH:

The 20-something woman seemed to talk with someone on her cellphone as she entered the shop carrying a big black jacket, a large black pocketbook slung over her shoulder.

“She asked what food there was but didn’t order anything,” the bake shop’s Morocha Mimada told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “When she saw the ladies that work here move away from counter, she very calmly grabbed (the jar) and put it under the jacket and walked out like nothing.

“No one could believe their eyes.”

The woman was described as in her early 20s, with short, straight black hair. She was wearing all black, with a bluish green undershirt.

“By the looks of it, she had to have done this before, as she very easily does this,” Mimada said. “Hopefully they can catch her before she does this again somewhere else.

“The women here work very hard for their money,” she added. “It’s sad to see what some young people are willing to do, risking to go to jail for a couple hundred dollars.”
