Adrian Rodriguez was driving a yellow 2003 Honda 600 motorcycle that struck the side of a 2008 Peterbilt tractor trailer carrying concrete drain pipes in the right lane, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

The motorcycle “struck the rear passenger side  of the trailer just in front of the rear tires” just before 7 a.m. and caught Rodriguez in its wheels, the chief said.

Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, Ehrenberg said.

The 45-year-old driver remained there and spoke with police.

Nearby traffic was diverted onto Route 4, creating miles-long backups through the morning rush. There were also residual delays on the nearby Garden State Parkway.

Farview Avenue, which initially was closed in both directions, was reopened around 8:30.
