About 30 people were partying at the 1st Avenue warehouse near the Hawthorne border when police responded to a 3:44 a.m. call, Detective Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez told nj.com.

Fernando D. Irby, 24, and Kashif Belfield, 26, were taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, where they died, Rodriguez said.

The clubs are "an uncontrolled environment," Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale told northjersey.com. "We continue to go after these places, one after another. I can't tell you how many we closed. There's so many of them."

Paterson has had 17 homicides so far this year -- 13 by gunshot.
