Truant officer and teen daughter caught with heroin, cops say

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A truant officer and her daughter were carrying more than five ounces of heroin worth more than $72,000 on the street when they were pulled over on Route 4 in Elmwood Park, authorities said.

Ana Miranda, 40, and her 18-year-old daughter, Cecilia, picked up the drugs, which were bound for Virginia, in New York City, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molielli.

Ana Miranda, who has worked for the Paterson Board of Education the past 12 years, is being held on $75,000 cash bail at the Bergen County Jail. Her daughter, who is single and unemployed, is being held on $25,000 cash.
