The 24-year-old city resident was standing in the area of Parker and Highland avenues around 2:30 a.m. Saturday when the robbers -- described as Hispanic and in their 20s -- grabbed him by the neck and punched and kicked him in the face, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
One of them then pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim, Bracken said.
Several shots were fired at one point, he said, adding that there were no indictations that anyone was struck.
The robbers then fled with undisclosed valuables toward Hope Avenue, the lieutenant said.
The victim sustained facial injuries but refused medical attention, he said.
Anyone who saw anything or has information related to the robbery is asked to contact Clifton detectives: (973) 470-5900.
