The alleged shoplifter stopped struggling when Officers Sean Macys, William Hickey, Robert Manning and Alan Annazone, along with Sgt. Paul Scott and Detective Peter Yuskaitis, got to the store around 7:30 Tuesday night, Sgt. Richard Schultz said this afternoon.

Inside his pockets were $125 worth of blades, Schultz said.

He also was carrying an open box cutter and two hypodermic syringes, the sergeant said.

On top of that, 36-year-old Diogenes Salcedo of Paterson also was wanted on warrants out of Elmwood Park, Clifton and Paterson, public records show.

Salcedo, 36 — who spent less than a year behind bars for aggravated assault — was arrested, booked and taken to the Bergen County Jail. He is being held there on $25,000 bail pending an initial Municipal Court hearing next Wednesday.
