The thief entered the Michael Anthony jewelry store in the Willowbroook Mall around 1:45 p.m. Monday and asked in a slight patois about a Presidential watch, Capt. Laurence Martin said.

"He stated he had just worked a 16-hour shift and was shopping for his birthday," Martin said. "The identification tag hanging from around the suspect’s neck says 'Mount Vernon.'

"Once the item was retrieved and presented for display, the suspect grabbed the item and fled the store, possibly fleeing in a Ford Fusion style of vehicle, with possible Florida license plates, which was waiting in the lot outside of the store," the captain said.
