Thomas Sanchirico is charged with 70 counts of having and distributing child pornography, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said, after his Internet Crime Unit seized more than 150 images.
Fifty of those images came directly off devices in Sanchirico's Highland Avenue home, the sheriff said.
Sanchirico remained held in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.
"It is essential thatlaw enforcement continue to be vigilant regarding the enforcement of laws that protect children from exploitation, Berdnik said Friday.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Sexual Investigations Unit assisted, the sheriff said.
