Port Authority police officer stops broad daylight rape on NYC street

BEYOND BERGEN: A 55-year-old woman being chased by a man who groped her and tried to pull off her clothing was rescued by Port Authority police who saw the commotion as she ran into a Hells Kitchen street, authorities said today.

Brad Gaillard, 38, was charged with attempted rape, sexual abuse and forcible touching after the incident on Ninth Avenue and 40th Street near the midtown Manhattan bus terminal yesterday afternoon, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

Officer Shaun Kehoe rescued the woman, subduing the 6-foot-3-inch, 175-pound Gaillard, Pentangelo said.
