No cause of death was immediately given, NorthJersey.com reported.

Jeffrey A. Afflitto, 31, was fleeing another crash when his 2013 Acura TSX slammed into a 1997 GMC Jimmy driven by 63-year-old Paul J. Amarose of Oak Ridge on Newark Pompton Turnpike on Oct. 22, authorities said at the time.

Amarose was pronounced dead at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.

Afflitto was initially held on $300,000 bail after being charged with aggravated manslaughter, among other counts, but records show he posted bail on New Year's Eve and was released.
