The Glock 17 was loaded with a mix of 21 hollow-point and standard rounds, with a magazine capable of holding 32, Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

Officers dispatched to the 600 block of Broadway just before 9 a.m. Sunday found 22-year-old Destinee Roberson of Paterson sitting on the ground on the side of the building, Speziale said.

As they approached, they could see the butt of a handgun on her lap under her hands, "which she was attempting to conceal with a blanket," he said.

The officers "began to calmly talk with the woman and quickly moved in and controlled her hands by grabbing her wrists and securing [the weapon]," Speziale said.

She was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment, he said.

Roberson, who had no firearms registered to her, was charged with various drug and weapons charges, the director said.
