Officer Maribel Seabrooks was on patrol just after midnight Wednesday when she spotted the woman, wearing a dark-colored hoodie, pointing the gun at the victim, Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

"The officer immediately notified headquarters and took cover behind a parked vehicle," Speziale said. "]She then] began yelling verbal commands at the armed suspect while pointing her departmental-issued handgun at [her].

"The suspect attempted to walk away while concealing the handgun within her clothing."

Sgt. O.J. Robinson arrived moments later and helped Seabrooks arrest 19-year-old Iyahna Baker of Paterson. They also seized a silver Raven Arms .25-caliber handgun loaded with two rounds from her, the director said.

Police charged Baker with resisting arrest and two weapons possession counts. She remained held in the Passaic County Jail pending a bail hearing.

The victim took off and was unable to be identified, Speziale said.
