Tremaine Adams pleaded guilty Wednesday to first-degree aggravated manslaughter in Superior Court in Paterson, admitting that he pulled out a .38-caliber gun and shot Ismail Walker during an argument at B&B Tire & Auto Repair on 10th Avenue on April 15, 2014
Prosecutors agreed to a 16-year sentence, 85% of which Adams must serve. He also will be under parole supervision for five years after his release, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.
A companion, Neil Morrison, pleaded guilty to being an ex-con in possession of a firearm for having the gun that Adams used to kill Walker, 24. Morrison must serve six years of a 12-year sentence, under terms of his deal with prosecutors, Valdes said.
“After the shooting, both defendants returned to the home of Adams located at 200 Godwin Avenue, where surveillance footage captured [Morrison] in possession of the .38 caliber gun,” the prosecutor said.
Superior Court Judge Joseph A. Portelli set a March 10 sentencing date.
