Passaic Sheriff's Sergeant Chases Down Fort Lee Couple

PATERSON, N.J. -- A brief chased ended Friday when a Passaic County sheriff's officer grabbed a Fort Lee couple, authorities said.

Sgt. Damian Priddy had stopped their car in the area of Keen Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard when the driver, Matthew Bartlett, 29, and his passenger, 41-year-old Nicole Pankin took off, Sheriff Richard Berdnick said Saturday morning.

The sergeant quickly caught them in Roberto Clementi Park, he said.

Bartlett had an outstanding warrant out of Passaic County for theft, burglary and receiving stolen property.

He was charged with eluding, resisting and drug possession.

Pankin was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were released pending court action.
