Passaic County Sheriff: $28,000 Deadbeat Dad Was Dealing Drugs In Haledon

HALEDON, N.J. – An accused drug dealer from Paterson who owes more than $28,000 in child support was carrying a trove of drugs that included nearly a pound of heroin divided into hundreds of glassine envelopes when Passaic County sheriff’s detectives grabbed him after a street deal in Haledon, authorities said.

Maga Robinson, 28, also had nearly five dozen zip-locking bags of cocaine, two ounces of pot and two dozen oxycodone pills, Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.

Berdnik’s detectives stopped Brandon Ciavarella, 25, of Wayne after watching him pull over in a GMC truck and buy heroin from Robinson in the 200 block of Belmont Avenue, the sheriff said.

They arrested Ciavarella, who Bernick said was carrying 10 glassine envelopes of heroin. Ciavarella was later released pending a court hearing.

The detectives doubled back on the Belmont Avenue address, where they saw Robinson get into a 2012 Fort Escape that they stopped moments later.

They seized 390 glassine envelopes of heroin, 59 zip-locking baggies of crack-cocaine, roughly 60 grams of marijuana and 24 Oxycodone pills, as well as $586 in alleged drug proceeds – all worth about $3,000 in total, Berdnik said.

Robinson was charged with various drug-related offenses and ordered held in the Passaic County Jail pending a bail hearing.
