Kevin C. Williams, 46, was sitting in the front seat and 51-year-old  in the back of the 2000 silver Honda Accord when Officer Gregg Hooper and Lt. Dave Angelucci caught them in the Burlington Coat Factory parking lot on the highway’s southbound side, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

A computer check showed the car had been reported stolen earlier today.

As the officers were taking the pair into custody, an accomplice emerged from the store, saw what was happening, dropped a large garbage bag filled with stolen goods and tipped away.Kevin C. Williams, Jerry Robinson

Detectives were reviewing store surveillance video.

Williams and Robinson, meanwhile, were being held on $10,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail, charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Additional charges involving shoplifting and an alleged attempt at stealing another car were pending, the chief said.
