Pair Still Hospitalized After Route 23 Tractor-Trailer Crash In Wayne

WAYNE, N.J. – Two men remained hospitalized Wednesday following a Route 23 crash in Wayne the day before, authorities said.

Adil Gega, 47, of Lincoln Park, and Cristian Calle-Valdez, 29, of Orange were in a pickup truck struck by a tractor-trailer in the northbound center lane near the Mountain View Boulevard exit around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Capt. Laurence Martin said.

Both were taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson, he said. Their conditions couldn't be determined.

The driver of the rig, 62-year-old Steven Meyer of Augusta, WI, wasn’t hurt, Martin said.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and Wayne police were investigating, he said. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that could help the investigation is asked to call the Wayne PD Traffic Bureau: (973) 633-3520.
