Njsp: Haworth man drove wrong way in Route 80 tractor-trailer crash

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 25-year-old Haworth man was driving eastbound on westbound Route 80 in Saddle Brook when his sedan slammed head-on into a tractor-trailer overnight, killing him, New Jersey State Police said.

Sean Hernandez was behind the wheel of a white 2014 Toyota Corolla that collided with a 2007 Peterbilt rig driven by 52-year-0ld Alphe Boudreaux of Quebec, Canada, in the left lane at mile marker 63.5 at 1:10 a.m. NJSP Sgt. Jeff Flynn told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Hernandez, a YMCA acquatics instructor who was graduated from William Paterson University and Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, was pronounced dead at 1:29 a.m.

Responding along with the NJSP were Saddle Brook police and firefighters, Bergen County Police, the BCPD Medical Examiner’s Office and state DOT, which cleaned up a fuel spill caused when the rig jack-knifed.

All lanes were shut down until 5:30 a.m., Flynn said.

An investigation was continuing, he said.
