Missing Little Falls jeweler in AC

State troopers wasted little time finding a prominent Little Falls jewelry storeowner who went missing for four days. Checking one of his favorite haunts, they found he’d checked into Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. By dinnertime, they’d located 62-year-old Alex Fava on the casino floor and called family members. By 10 p.m., he was back home, safe and sound.

“The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office sent out the notice with a picture,” said State Police Sgt. Julian Castellanos. “They just did their jobs, found him, did a ‘well-being’ check and let him go on his way. His family came right down to get him.”

A recent blackout left Fava with short-term amnesia, family members said. So when Fava wasn’t heard from after heading out to work Monday morning, loved ones were concerned. Before long, Lodi police and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office had issued missing persons dispatches. Social networks were buzzing with alerts, in the hopes that someone would find him.

Fava apparently had been known to frequent the casinos. So troopers handled that end.

A father of four, Fava comes from a prominent Passaic County family: His brother, Ron, once was the county prosecutor and sheriff; his brother, Ralph, is the Hawthorne borough attorney.
