“He was told to quit playing around,” one officer said in the hours following Hibbert’s overnight arrest Sunday. “But he provided his hours, what days he worked.”

It was never formally verified, however.

Also arrested over the weekend and yesterday were four alleged accomplices, Teaneck Police Chief Robert Carney announced this morning.

In both incidents, Carney said, Hibbert (mugshots top, left) fired a single shot at an Amsterdam Avenue home a week ago yesterday (March 30) and two rounds at a Washington Place residence on Wednesday night in retaliation for “ongoing disputes” he had with people living there, Carney said.

Both times, 20-year-old Michael Macasaet of Dumont (top, right) was behind the wheel of a 1999 gold Nissan Pathfinder with Hibbert, Dumont resident Rodney Butler, also 20, and 18-year-old Khair Williams of Paterson in tow, the chief said.

Although several people were home at each residence, no one was injured, he said.

The crew also “plotted and took steps to try and rob drug dealers” along with a fifth man, identified as Hassen Abdelkader, 20, of Teaneck, Carney said.

A search of Hibbert’s home turned up a 30-round magazine for an AR-15, 34 four rounds of .357 Magnum ammunition, a single .38-caliber round, and eight spent shell casings “three of which are believed to have been from the two earlier incidents,” the chief said.

The gun used in both hadn’t been recovered as of this morning, he said.

Arrests began Friday and, by yesterday, authorities had all five suspects in custody.

Hibbert, Macasaet, Butler (bottom, left) and Williams (bottom, middle) are charged with aggravated assault, and two illegal weapons possession counts in connection with the March 30 shooting.

“For their actions” on April 1, Carney said, Hibbert, Macasaet, Butler, Williams and Abdelkader (bottom, right) are charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, aggravated assault and two illegal weapons possession offenses.

Hibbert also is charged illegal possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine and possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to distribute it.

Bail was set at $25,000 each, with initial appearances scheduled for a week from tomorrow in Teaneck Municipal Court.
