Mahwah cops waiting when pot arrives

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Mahwah undercover police were waiting when a sedan pulled up with pot for sale stashed into a DVD player, said authorities, who arrested the 21-year-old driver — a Ramapo College student — and his passenger, both from Paterson.

“Based on information from the investigation, Mahwah detectives identified when the individuals were going to enter the township” with the pot, said police Capt. Steve Jaffe.

Sure enough, the 2002 Honda Accord arrived at an undisclosed meeting place off Franklin Turnpike, where undercover detectives scooped up the pair. Inside the mobile DVD player, Jaffe said, they found 22 small plastic bags of pot.

Driver Dasean “Bam Bam Bosco” Montgomery, a Ramapo senior who recently returned from a trip to Mexico, was charged with possession. However, police charged his associate, 19-year-old Maurice Chestnut, with being the salesman.

Originally from Harlem, Chestnut describes himself on his Facebook page as the “head man” from the “Hard Knocks High” and “Hard Knocks University.”

Both were due in Municipal Court today.
