William Colligan, 19, already was awaiting the outcome of charges that he had pot and alcohol in his car when Hawthorne police stopped hiim six months ago.

Then, on Friday night, Fair Lawn police were called to the corner of Maple Avene and Cedar Street, where they found the minivan “partially off the roadway, facing south in the northbound lane of Maple Avenue, near the Knights of Columbus hall,” Sgt. Richard Schultz said.

“The vehicle had extensive damage to the one side and rear passenger tire,” he said, adding that it “appeared to have been driven some distance since the damaged tire was resting only on its rim.:

Colligan, who was “too intoxicated to be driving,” was taken to police headquarters and charged with DWI, failing to exhibit documents and violating his provisional license. Police released him to his father pending a court hearing.
