Gas Leak Forces Evacuation At Prospect Park School

PROSPECT PARK, N.J. — A gas leak forced an evacuation at Al-Hikmah Elementary School on North 8th Street in Prospect Park Tuesday morning, police said.

The building was reopened around 11 a.m. when authorities said it was safe.

Students and staff were moved to the municipal building while the fire department and PSE&G investigated, police said.

Al-Hikmah is a private school run by the Islamic Foundation of New Jersey.
