Garfield bank robbery

Investigators are reviewing video of a bank robbery at Clifton Savings and Loan in Garfield. A teller said an Hispanic man apparently in his early 30s passed a note and then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the Lanza Avenue branch.

No weapon was shown, a law enforcement source said.

Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire said detectives from his Crime Scene Unit were at the scene yesterday “assisting Garfield PD in this investigation.”

Authorities have not said whether they have identified any suspects. The only description of the robber so far is that he was wearing a blue cap and a light blue shirt.

The Lanza Avenue branch, part of Clifton Bank Corp., opened in 1977.
