Freud slipped here

The father of psychoanalysis took a celebrated trip to the U.S. 100 years ago, berthing at Hoboken on his way to deliver lectures at Clark University in Massachusetts. At 11 a.m. Monday, officials and experts will gather at the end of the city’s Pier A Park, near the original Freudian slip, to mark the anniversary.

Speakers include Rutgers University professor Gerald Grob and an impersonator who will read from Sigismund Schlomo Freud’s travel diary.

A side note on Freud: The famed Austian neurologist — renowned for redefining sexual desire as our primary motivation for just about everything — died 70 years ago this Wednesday.
